Raising the bar

The Ibanez RG7PCMLTD takes production model guitars to the next level. In terms of sheer specifications, you can count on one hand the commercial competitors that have anything near these options for the price. A beautiful curly maple fretboard on an 11 piece neck, Stainless Steel frets, and so much more that we’ll discuss make this a must see for any musicians who love exotic specs, but Ibanez fanatics especially.

“Designed to Inspire”

A quote taken directly from Ibanez’ website and it’s not an over-exaggerated sales pitch by any means. I’ve actually been looking for a guitar with any type of maple fretboard on a dark wood neck for a while and although there are a few out there, for the price and the frequency of finding one, this is a more practical solution for me. So if any of the following options are something you look for in your next purchase, you’re going to love this model:

  •  Premium Fret Edge Treatment
  • Stainless Steel Frets
  • Wizard 11 Piece Neck
  • Natural Body Binding
  • Luminescent Side DotInlay
  • Gotoh MG-T Locking Machine Heads
  • Edge Zero II Tremolo Bridge with ZPS3Fe
  • DiMarzio PAF7 set

Beauty versus Utility

Glad I don’t have to entertain that question! This guitar has it all and then some, from the snappy response of the ash body, to the beautiful aesthetics of the curly maple fretboard, Ibanez truly delivered with this model. Every feature of this guitar is not just some flashy new addition but meticulous, thought out accents that serve the working musician and casual players alike.

The luminescent side dots allow you to easily navigate the fretboard, even in the dark. The Stainless Steel frets not only provide extra life compared to the standard nickel frets Ibanez uses but makes the guitar play so unbelievably smooth. Not familiar with the Edge Zero II tremolo system? Knowing that the strings are locked in three separate points should be reassuring to say the least. The electronics? Well, they’ve decided to step these up to the same DiMarzio PAF7’s that are in Prestige series models so yeah, this guitar is built to work as good as it looks – by all means.
